KISS DRUMMER
A year after beating breast cancer, Peter Criss, a founding member of the rock band KISS, calls himself "the luckiest man in the planet." While some men feel embarrassed because of "this macho crap," Criss said surviving breast cancer was actually a blessing. He was treated before the tumor could spread.
Criss ofered this advice to men who spot lumps in their breast: "Don't sit around playing Mr. Tough Guy. Don't say it's going to go away. It might not and you might not see life anymore and how beautiful that is."
The 63-year-old musician is now cancer free and like many others, Criss wasn't aware men could get breast cancer.
JULES VERNE
Jules Verne was born in Nantes, France in 1828. His father, a successful lawyer, encouraged his son to follow the family profession. Jules Verne studied law in Paris but he devoted himself to his real interest, writing. He wrote great classics of the world literature like: 'Five weeks in a balloon'(1862), 'Journey to the center of the earth'(1864), 'Twenty thousand leagues under the sea'(1869) and 'Around the world in eighty days'(1873), among many others. He died in 1905. He's considered the greatest forerunner of science fiction and several of his books became successful movies.
