NEW YEAR'S EVE
New Year's Eve is observed on December 31, the final day of any given year in the Gregorian calendar.
In modern societies, New Year's Eve is often celebrated at social gatherings, during which participants dance, eat, consume alcoholic beverages and watch or light fireworks to mark the incoming year.
The 'Ano Novo' is also known in Brazil by the French word Réveillon.
Brazilians traditionally have a copious meal with family or friends at home, in restaurants or private clubs. They usually dress in white, to bring good luck.
The beach at Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro is regarded as the location of one of the best fireworks displays in the world at New Year while the ball dropping on top of One Times Square in New York is the most famous celebration all over the world.
